After cyclone Tauktae causing widespread destructions in the western coastal belt of India, the met department officials have alarmed about a cyclonic storm developing over the Gangetic West Bengal and is likely to make landfall on the eastern coast in the next two to three days.

This its second cyclonic storm forming over the Bay of Bengal this year named Yaas, given by Oman. Officials at the India Meteorological Department alerted that the low-pressure system is forming over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal and can gather force in the next 48 to 72 hours to form a cyclonic storm before reaching Odisha or West Bengal by May 26 evening.

Following the lead of India's cyclone-hit southern and western states, parts of Northeast India are now set to witness some intense rainfall activity as well, with heavy rains set to lash the region for the next three days.

According to The Weather Channel’s met team, a cyclonic circulation located over Northeast India will give rise to widespread rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds blowing at 30 to 40 kmph across the region. Some areas will also experience isolated heavy showers.

The rainfall activity will be especially intense from Wednesday to Friday, with rain totals in excess of 100 mm a day expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and adjoining places.

It is Odisha not Orissa. Kindly change the thread title. @iDJ Here is the spelling. "O D I S H A". You changed it to something else.

I wonder who is accountable for so many ONGC employees death's in Bombay High. The Chairman of the company should be tried for manslaughter.Despite repeated warnings from weather forecasters they gave no importance to human lives and as a result till now 36 ppl. have lost their life.If it had been some other country the Chairman of the company would have been behind bars and facing murder charges.

The weather models are currently confused about the path of the cyclone. Anywhere between West Bengal and Odisha. Will know more in coming days

One observation from the weather models is that the cyclone is taking shape quite up the latitude and would find it difficult to reach the level of aggressiveness that Tauktae reached but can still de devastating for the coastal belt,

The duration between the cyclone formation and landfall is approx 3 days which seems a little less for high category intensification.

Approx timelines :-

Sunday - Low formation
Monday - INtensification
Tuesday - Further intensification and NW movement
Wednesday - Slight weakening and landfall at night

There were small breeze at the morning. By noon it was getting uncomfortably hot. Than rain struck with strong breeze. Cooling down the temperature.

isolated pre monsoon showers are possible in West Bengal and Odisha starting saturday, with increasing intensity as the system progresses in bay of bengal

This is more dangerous one. Met already predicted it as Super cyclone more than Amphan cyclone.
