Cyberoam, a division of Elitecore Technologies, has launched NetGenie, a wireless router in two versions - wireless router with security features for homes and as unified threat management appliance for the SOHO segment.

NetGenie lets home and SOHO users to decide the level of Internet freedom in PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets. 3G ready, it secures Internet through its firewall, intrusion prevention system (IPS), and anti-virus offerings. For SOHO, there is an in-built IPSec VPN feature that allows secure remote access to vendor offices or a central office.

Speaking at the launch, Hemal Patel, CEO, Elitecore Technologies said, "NetGenie is a solution for families and small office users that aims to enable safe Internet usage, usher in productivity, and offer advanced threat protection. NetGenie for SOHO offers Internet controls with single-click Internet restriction levels along with real-time reporting of online activities as well as network security.”

"With investment of four years and $4 million in survey and R&D to develop a user-friendly product, we are targeting to sell about 15,000 units till March 2012 and expect 60 percent of our sales from the SOHO and the rest from home segment. We have earmarked a marketing budget of $20 million to generate awareness for this product through print and radio advertisements, fares and exhibitions, roadshows as well as point of sale materials, free trainings, and schemes for channel partners," he added.

"Supertron would be our national distributor for NetGenie as well. We would increase the strength of master resellers from ten to 25 before December 2011. We are looking for large resellers as our master resellers in cities like Lucknow, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Udaipur. Initially, we would target the home and SOHO customers in tier-I and metro cities, and will extend to customers in tier-2, and tier-3 after three months. We also have plans to offer this product through LFRs including Reliance Digital and Croma. To support end user queries, we already have an in-house call center with 170 personnel of which 50 will be dedicated for NetGenie," said Bishwajit Sutradhar, National Sales Manager (NetGenie and EPDP), Elitecore Technologies.

The home version of NetGenie is available at Rs 7,999 and the SOHO version at Rs 10,999. The product comes with 1-year warranty and 3-years subscription for anti virus, IPS, and firewall.
