Amla, de Villiers among marquee local players for South Africa's new T20 league

Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers are among the top marquee local players announced by Cricket South Africa on Friday (April 21) for their new T20 league that is set to take place later this year. Apart from Amla and de Villiers, CSA revealed the names of Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir as the marquee players for the first two editions of the #T20 Global Destination League.

CSA unveil T20 Global League

The Cricket South Africa, on Wednesday (May 31), revealed the logo and name of their upcoming Twenty20 league is a gala function at the Wanderers Stadium. The tournament will be called the T20 Global League. The league will feature eight privately-owned teams and will run in the final quarter of the year, with the final slated for December 16.

Cricbuzz understands that the board will announce the team names and owners on June 19 at Lord's.

Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Brendon McCullum, Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Kieron Pollard and Jason Roy will be the international marquee players while Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir will be domestic marquee players.

"There will be eight franchise teams participating in the #T20 Global Destination League and each will be allowed a maximum of four foreign defined players in their 17-man squad," Haroon Lorgart, the CSA chief, had said earlier.
