Pharmacies across India will remain shut on Tuesday, May 30, as the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists Association holds a nationwide strike against recently introduced government policies. There will also be a demonstration held in the national capital at Jantar Mantar.
The main aim of the nation-wide shutdown it to protest the Ministry of Health’s proposal to regulate the sale of medicines through an e-portal. Further, the Ministry has made the wholesale trade of medicines much more stringent, by requiring that chemists involved in the same, possess a D. Pharma degree. In the absence of the same, licences would not be provided or renewed.
