Canon India has announced an addition to the G series of cameras in India, the PowerShot G16. The PowerShot G16 features a 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity CMOS sensor as well as a DIGIC 6 Imaging Processor for superior image quality and speed.
The processor allows users to shoot at higher resolutions with less noise in dark conditions. Additionally, the DIGIC 6 Imaging Processor enables video recording in the MP4 high compression format in Full HD resolution with a frame rate of 60fps.
PowerShot G16 is the newest entrant in the Canon advanced point and shoot segment
The PowerShot G16’s AF improves focus speed by shooting at 12.2fps at full resolution and 5.7fps with continuous AF activated. It features 5x optical zoom, with a focal range of 28mm-140mm, expandable to 10x with Canon’s new ZoomPlus feature. The f/1.8-f/2.8 bright lens performs well under low light, claims Canon.
The company has added the Star Shooting mode for shooting the night sky as well as the new Background Defocus mode to create images with bokeh. The HDR mode, first introduced in 2010, has been given a shot in the arm with five new artistic effects – Natural, Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold, and Art Embossed – added to it.
The camera is enabled with Wi-Fi and you can use Canon Image Gateway to upload images and videos from the camera instantly. You can also download the CameraWindow app, available for iOS and Android, to transfer images and share them across social networking websites.
The PowerShot G16 is priced at Rs 34,995 and is now available at all the retail outlets including Canon Image Squares.
