State owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (BSNL & MTNL) have made all calls to Nepal from its landline and mobile as local call for three days from Saturday as a relief measure for earthquake hit people in Nepal.

Leading private teleco, Bharti Airtel has also declared all calls from India on its network to Nepal free for the next 48 hours, effective midnight Saturday.

“This is an attempt to lend a hand to our neighbours...The above decision has been taken by the Cabinet Secretary,”said Anupam Shrivastava, CMD, BSNL.
Other telecom operators were also planning such free calls at the time of going to print.
