Im planning to install bsnl fiber in my rural village, where it's the only wired broadband service available. But the wire lines are 1 km far away from my home, which is the nearest distance, some one has installed bsnl fiber. So how much should I pay for installation or is it free?

Bsnl do not charge anything for the installation as of now in TN circle. Also they provide first month rental free and Rs. 200 off of the monthly rental for next 3 months.

However, the LCO who provides the connection will charge you for the installation, typically around 3000-4000 including the router and other equipments if any. If he has to extend the line from a long distance then you might have to pay for the length of the cable as well.

No company provides FREE router. It is all the property of the brand at all times and it is given to you for your use and has to be returned to the company on disconnection, without any damage. The company can charge you if there is any damages to the CPE during the return.

Coming back to bsnl, the connection is provided by the LCO not by the brand itself. And LCO is already doing you a favor of brining the line to you and maintaining it. He is doing business not social service. And about 50-60% of that initial amount goes for the router, ONT and other devices if any. They will be sold outright to you and becomes your property. You need not return them if you disconnect the bsnl fiber.

It is not practical to expect the freebies from a small LCO similar to the corporate brands.

Paying for length of cable would that cost too much ?

Only if the connection requires more than the permitted limit of the cable you will be charged for it. The price varies with location and the LCO, typically around Rs.5-15 per meter.

Thanks for the detailed information, other brands provide it for usage, but via lco for bsnl we need to pay the amount and own it. And cable charges and installing it needs to done by us.

Is this the same for other corporate brands like jio, airtel or its only for bsnl

It's purely based on the LCO. I spent zero rupees on my BSNL installation. Our LCO didn't ask a single money since I had Fiber modem at that time.
So no issues with respect to speed and outage, except one day planned outage due to server upgrade which our LCO informed in advance.
