New Delhi: Lakhs of BlackBerry users in India, as also millions abroad, faced problems in accessing the email, messenger and other online services on the smartphone for the second day today, even as the company said it was working to resolve the issues.

“Some users in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are experiencing messaging and browsing delays,” the company said in a statement.

“We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused,” said a spokesperson for Research in Motion, the company that provides the BlackBerry service.

“Some areas have messaging delays and impaired browsing. We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible,” the company posted on social networking site Twitter. It did not explain the technical glitch, which had hit the services yesterday also for many hours.

India alone is estimated to have one million users of BlackBerry.
This morning, the company said that the issue affecting the e-mail services has been resolved, but some users continued to face problems in other services. “BlackBerry email services restored. Some users still experiencing delays with browsing and IM (instant messaging). Sorry for inconvenience,” the company had said in its earlier message this morning.

Telecom operators in India had yesterday maintained that there was no problem at their end. Foreign media reports said that Vodafone in the UK told its customers via Twitter that service was not fully restored.
