Airtel will soon be launching two new ‘Infinity’ plans for its postpaid customers starting at Rs 549, according to a report by Telecom Talk. The plans will allow postpaid users to make unlimited calls to any cellular network in the country.

The Rs 549 plan will be offering unlimited free local and STD voice calls per month, free incoming on roaming, 2 GB 4G data or 1 GB of regular data for non-4G users. Also, the customers will get 100 free SMS per day and free subscription to Wynk Music and Wynk Movies.

For Rs 799, customers will get the same benefits as Rs 549 plan, except that they’ll get double data of 4GB than the usual 2GB data. Non-4G users will get 2GB average data.

The telco has also increased data limit for all the Infinity postpaid plans where Rs 1199 plan now 6GB 4G data as compared to 1GB 4G data earlier. And, the Rs 1599 plan offers 10GB of 4G data in comparison to 5GB of data earlier.

The company has also introduced a booster pack at Rs 199 which offers unlimited free Airtel to Airtel Local+ STD calls for one month.

Stupid plan. Who will pay it?

In my view it is good plan. Currently my postpaid plan is Rs.399 for calls (1500 minutes) and SMS (150 SMS) and Rs.400 for 2GB 4G Internet. Totally I am paying Rs.799+taxes.

Now in this plan, at Rs.599, I am getting same Internet with more call benefits. At Rs.799, I am getting double benefit of 4G Internet than my current plan.

But we need to know what exactly the term unlimited refers too..

Jio's 499+tax Plan gives us 4GB LTE data + 8GB WiFi data+unlimited night LTE(2-5 am) along with free voice and SMS. BSNL promised to match their plan. Rcom is using Jio's infrastructure so their plan should also match Jio.

So in this context airtel's plan isn't impressive considering we get less data and hv to pay in roaming outgoing call.

But fortunately most of the time these operators give us great offers we subscribe that so never pay the actual amount. This is in prepaid ofcourse, I am not sure about Postpaid though

Glad to see Airtel cutting the infinity plan cost by 50%. Hope they will reduce it further to match Jio's 499 plan.
Airtel still has an edge in terms of service quality.
