The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to take the production of matches in-house after parting ways with Nimbus Sport, which was handling the production for international as well as domestic matches.

The BCCI, sources say, has launched an in-house production unit, BCCI Broadcasting Services, which will take the responsibility of production starting with the India-New Zealand series in August.

A Nimbus official confirmed that it no longer handles the production for BCCI. The sports marketing agency was given the contract till 2014.

The BCCI had last year terminated the broadcast rights agreement with Nimbus Sport for defaulting on payments, following which it decided not to give the production work to anyone else.

Incidentally, former Nimbus vice-president James Rego is the director of Broadcast Services at BCCI.

Following Nimbus' termination, the BCCI floated a new tender. Star TV bagged the media rights for a whopping Rs 38.51 billion till 2018. The broadcaster will pay Rs 322.6 million per match for the first two years and a whopping Rs 432 million for the next four years.
