While there hasn’t been any solid confirmation, today we see some development. Right before the official launch, the processor has got an official page on Chinese social networking site Weibo. There is limited information on the page for now and apart from the processor name and logo there isn’t anything relevant.

The new page for ‘Pinecone’ also means that the Xiaomi Mi 5c launch is around the corner says Chinese site Anzhou.cn. The site also mentions that Xiaomi has partnered with chipmaker Leadcore to create the new Pinecone chipset. This is the same company that Leadcore chipset for the Redmi 2A. It is also said that it will be made on the 10nm process.

If the speculations are true, then Xiaomi will join Samsung, Apple and Huawei all of which have offer smartphones with in-house chipsets.

As for the debut of the chip, it could feature on the Xiaomi Mi 5c which will be an affordable version of the Xiaomi Mi 5. Strangely though, we recently heard that the handset could come with a Snapdragon 625 processor as well. Rest of the expected specs include 3GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. It is also expected to feature a 12MP camera at the back and an 8MP on the front. Running on MIUI 8, it will house a 3,200mAh battery and a 5.5-inch full-HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top.
