Roger Binny, the former India cricketer
and a member of the national
selection committee, has been
removed from his post. Cracking a whip
on the conflict of interest issue within
Indian cricket, the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI) has also removed
Ravi Shastri, the Team India director,
from the Indian Premier League (IPL)
Governing Council.
While MSK Prasad, the former India
wicket-keeper, replaces Binny as the
South Zone selector in the committee,
Jyotiraditya Scindia, a member of
parliament, has been made part of the
IPL Governing Council. Gagan Khoda,
another former India cricket in the
limited-overs format, replaces Rajinder
Singh Hans in the selection panel.
In yet another major change, Sourav
Ganguly, the former India skipper and
the recently-appointed chief of the
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB),
has replaced Anil Kumble, former India
Test captain, as the chairman of the
BCCI technical committee. The BCCI has
also retained Rajeev Shukla as the IPL
chairman.
