4 year back they announced but didn't perform yet. Until, 8 months ago GoI banned MasterCard?

Yes because it takes 4 years to enabled alteast 90% merchants to accept RuPay credit cards in India.

4 years ago very few merchants accept RuPay credit cards.

Also dnt forget, In last 2 years NPCI scale down their all projects because of pandamic.

At the same time Visa/Mastercard were running all their operations through USA and no lockdown on USA.

Before pandamic RuPay Prepaid card was a king and RuPay prepaid card was a RuPay's core business but after Pandamic all Prepaid card will issue on Visa card network, BNPL card also launch on Visa Prepaid card network.

90% RuPay prepaid card market share grabbed by Visa prepaid cards during the pandemic.

Now just few months back, one NPCI employee told me that NPCI is now again start working on the Rupay prepaid card and BNPL project.

Same thing happened on RuPay credit card business, From last 4 years NPCI could not prepare all banks for RuPay credit cards in time.

I was not getting no cost emi option on rupay card but was getting on visa for the same item. So why should I use rupay card?

Where Amazon ?

RuPay card already support EMI payment.

Amazon's acquirer bank is not enabled EMI payment on RuPay credit cards yet.

You will see Flipkart already support almost all RuPay credit cards on EMI transaction.

Also few SBI RuPay Credit cards (Shaurya cards) already enabled EMI transactions on Amazon.

Personally, i dnt know why Amazon's acquirer bank is not enabled EMI transactions on all RuPay Credit cards.

I think some acquirer banks still not fully migrate to new RuPay e-com gateway "BEPG", here is the details - RuPay Card's New 3D Secure Payment Gateway Support Recurring Payment, Tokenization, EMI, Quick checkout & more
