Kohli (MoM):
I still can't believe what happened out there. It was a crunch game for us and to execute the plans in such a tight game is very pleasing. It was a good wicket to bat on so if you have around 130-140 runs to get and then you start picking up a few boundaries it puts on a lot of pressure on the opposition. I am a big fan of Rohit and I love watching him bat. This knock is as special as the one I played in Hobart. Pakistan have a great bowling unit and to be able to chase 330 against them feels extremely good.

Dhoni:
To start off I think when they were batting I felt as a skipper I couldn't do much. We used 8 bowlers so that clearly showed that things weren't going our way. Once Gautam got out I thought Sachin and Virat batted very well. Rohit was very good as well and he can turn out to be a very good finisher for us. I think Virat didn't slog he just played some good cricketing shots. Once the target goes beyond 300 it is always very difficult to chase on any sort of wicket. But we had done it recently so we knew we had the potential to do so and that gave us confidence and we picked the right deliveries. We have talent in the batting and the bowling department. It is just about how you handle the pressure. I think they will just learn from such experiences and get better as they play.

Misbah:
I think India played very well especially the way they started. Sachin played really well. I think credit goes to their batsmen, they played really well. It is really easy to bat under lights but still 329 is a good score. I would still like to praise India for the way they batted. Virat played one of the best innings that I have ever seen.

Virat Kohli is the fastest rising superstar in world cricket. He proved his mettle yet again and is becoming India's most dependable man in a chase. If his knock at Hobart helped him catch the eyes of cricket lovers all around the world then this one will definitely help him rise in stature. It could still be curtains for India if Bangladesh win against Sri Lanka but for the moment though India are very well placed to make it to the final. Pakistan are already through to the final and the win also means that Sri Lanka have been knocked out.

The man of the moment, Virat Kohli, walks onto the ground and collects a stump as a souvenir. A wide glee is a permanent fixture as he accepts the applause from the sizeable crowd. Kohli's brilliance has overshadowed some poor bowling from the Indian bowlers. Their batsmen made the chase look ridiculously easy. The only time there was any sort of concern was when Gambhir fell off just the second ball. It was Kohli all the way after that. Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma played excellent supporting roles too.

Kohli demolishes Pakistan in record chase
India 330 for 4 (Kohli 183, Rohit 68, Tendulkar 52) beat Pakistan 329 for 6 (Hafeez 105, Jamshed 112, Younis 52) by six wickets

Loss against SL would make India win futile: Law
March 19, 2012

The win against World Champions India would mean nothing if you will not defeat Sri Lanka, Bangladesh coach Stuart Law has told his wards.
The hosts have a chance to reach the Asia Cup final for the first time if they beat Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
If Bangladesh win, they will be tied on eight points with India but will go through to the final since they had beaten India in the league stage.

Law said he wants his boys to continue with the momentum and get the better of Sri Lanka. "It's very important for us as a group after all the hard work we have put in for this tournament. We didn't have a great preparation time but it has been intense. To win against India, the current world champions, is a feather in our cap. However, we've still got a very important game and if we don't win that game [against Sri Lanka], the win the other night won't matter," Law said.

"I'm just trying to tell the boys, 'Yesterday was fantastic but it means nothing; we've got to win the game against Sri Lanka and get to the final'. After the Asia Cup, we can celebrate and look back at fond memories," Law was quoted as saying by local media.
Law, who was part of Sri Lanka's support staff when they lost to India in the World Cup final last year, said he cherished the moment of beating India on Friday.

"Last year I was there with Sri Lanka and we got beaten, so to be part of the team that beats the world champions, reverse the dose the other night and have our fans go berserk and seeing the people line the roads. We didn't get home till midnight. It was something that I wanted to take in," he said.
Law emphasised on the virtue of talking to great players if one wants to improve but rued that his players do not get much opportunity to play international cricket..

"You have to practice for a purpose. Talking is a big part of learning. These boys have access to the greatest players in the world in this tournament. If I was them, I'd be picking someone's brains: guys like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Sachin Tendulkar. I've seen them from close quarters and they're more than willing to talk. That's the only issue I have with the Bangladesh cricket team: we don't play enough international cricket," he said.

Fan Face-off: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka
March 19, 2012

Sri Lanka are out of the tournament and will be keen on leaving Bangladesh with at least a win under their belts while the Bangladeshi's will go all-out for another upset and get their place in the finals.

Gokul who is confident that SL will leave with a win and Sid V who is fervently hoping for Bdesh to play in the finals face-off.

Gokul: Bangladesh may have handled the Indian bowling line-up pretty easily. But do they have it in them to go up against Lasith Malinga?

Sid V: The potent Malinga is a thing of the past. He is not getting the yorker right and so he is easy to handle. Malinga is still dangerous, but he is nowhere close to his best. He is only good in the IPL, where his yorkers are surprisingly on target. The rest of the bowling line-up? The less said about them the better. No variety and no consistency. It is like the SL team can bat but they can't bowl and field well.

Gokul: Bangladesh have exceeded expectations with their performance in this Asia Cup, no doubting that. But how long can they sustain it?

Sid V: There have been a lot of starts and stops in Bangladesh's cricketing journey. If a team like Bangladesh gets on a roll, they are very difficult to beat. They showed it in the 2007 World Cup, where they defeated some big nations along the way. Similarly in the 2011 World Cup, they defeated England. They were on a roll when they whitewashed New Zealand 4-0 as well as defeated Zimbabwe 3-1. Looking at their recent thrashing of India, they look like emerging out of a defeatist attitude and putting in a consistent show.

Gokul: Indians might have batted slowly against Bangladesh, but don't expect Dilshan, Mahela and Sangakkara to go quiet. The Bangla bowlers will have an uphill task trying to stop the dangerous trio?

Sid V: Dilshan always has had a brain explosion. His tendency to over-attack will lead to his downfall. Mahela and Sangakkara are class players no doubt, but Bangladesh's spinners can contain them and frustrate them into making a mistake. The SL top order are totally over-reliant on these three and that adds more pressure on them. If the moment is seized by Bangladesh, then the trio can be easily put down.

Sid V: Bangladesh are heading into the match after thumping India, something Sri Lanka have failed to do. What will it take for Sri Lanka to register a win?

Gokul: Sri Lankans are entering the final match of the league stage with nothing to lose. With India having won against Pakistan, Sri Lanka are out of the tournament and will look to go out with a bang. So, this will be the match where they'll launch an all-out attack and tame the so called 'Tigers'.

Sid V: The world calls us minnows. But, Sri Lanka's performance in the Asia Cup could make even the minnows proud? How will Sri Lanka cope up?

Gokul: They might have had two failures but don't expect a third from a world class side like the Lankans. How will Lanka cope - how they have over the years while beating world class sides time and again.

Sid V: Sri Lanka have failed to reach the finals and the main problem is their lacklustre bowling line-up. How did they think they could come out victors in the Asia Cup with such a pedestrian bowling line-up?

Gokul: There is nothing pedestrian about the Lankan bowling. The sight of Lasith Malinga will send shivers down the Bangladeshi batsmen. Suranga Lakmal too is a effective bowler and so are Kulasekara and Maharoof. So to answer your question, Sri Lanka's bowling is armed enough to deliver a comprehensive win.

Sid V: So far, the lowest total posted in the Asia Cup has been from Sri Lanka, for a team relying heavily on its batsmen they have thus far been poor. With the finals out of reach, will they finally come good?

Gokul: FYI, Sangakkara and Tharanga scored fine half-centuries against Pakistan in between collapses. Against India too, Sangakkara did well along with Mahela. Not to mention, Dilshan is due for a big score and Sri Lanka also have talented youngsters like Chandimal and Thirimmane. So the Bangladeshi bowlers better be up for battering.
