Asad Rauf, Pakistan umpire, has been handed a five-year ban by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his role his alleged role in a fixing-related scam during the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The allegations were made against him by the Mumbai police. On being summoned by the disciplinary committee, he chose to leave the country mid-way through the tournament.
The decision to ban him was taken at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Friday (February 12). The Committee after considering the report of the Commissioner of Enquiry and the written statement of Asad Rauf found him guilty of misconduct and corruption."
