It’s only been a couple of weeks since Apple released iOS 10.2 update , and now it seems the company already has iOS 10.3 update in the pipeline. According to a leakster, Apple will roll out iOS 10.3 beta 1 update on January 10, and one of the talking points will be a new feature called ‘theatre mode’.
Leakster Sonny d*ckson tweeted about the upcoming iOS 10.3 beta update for developers on January 10, and it is codenamend ‘Erie’. He followed it with a tweet about the new feature, dubbed theatre mode. d*ckson says, this feature will be recognized by a popcorn-icon on the control center. While details are scarce, it is being reported that the theatre mode is an enhanced version of Dark Mode.

iOS 10.3 to feature a new Theatre mode - will include a new popcorn-shaped Control Center icon.
Dark Mode is being teased since iOS 10 beta, which basically dims the display and replaces whites with black. This is not only easier on the eyes when staring at the phone in dark, but it is also ideal for OLED displays — widely rumored to be debuting on next year’s iPhone 8 — as they won’t consume as much power as standard displays. While there are certain tricks to enable a sort of ‘dark mode’ on current iOS versions, this rumored theatre mode could make things as easy as tapping a button.
Apple only recently rolled out iOS 10.2 update for iPhones, and iPads. The OS update brought in a bunch of new features and bug fixes. These included hundreds of new emojis, new iMessage effects, and an Emergency SOS feature for Indian users. The SOS feature can be enabled by going to Settings -> General -> Emergency SOS. Once enabled, the feature will automatically call emergency services when the power button is rapidly clicked three times. The call to the emergency services will also include one’s current location whether or not the Location Services feature is enabled. Once the call ends, a message containing one’s current location will also be sent to a list of pre-selected emergency contacts.
