Apple has just refreshed their MacBook line-up. The 12-inch MacBook gets the biggest update in the form of updated internals and a Rose Gold option. The 13-inch MacBook Air also gets updated and gets 8GB RAM as standard.

The 12-inch MacBook has stirred up quite some controversy with its single USB type-C port. Following the refresh, the Macbooks will now tote Skylake processors (Core M) which can be clocked from 1.3GHz to 3.1GHz, Intel HD Graphics 515 and PCIe SSDs. The devices will be available in Gold, Silver, Space Grey and Rose Gold options. RAM has also been bumped up to 1866MHz.

Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Airs get a slight bump in spec in the form of 8GB RAM being made standard across all devices. We would have loved to see a retina display on the Air though.

An upgrade to sixth generation Skylake chips mean that the MacBook should get a bump in battery life as well as performance. The updated graphics chip alone should improve performance by 25%, claims Apple. Apple also claims that you will be able to extract 10 hours of web browsing and 11 hours of movie playback on iTunes on the MacBook.

“MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”

And we thought the iPad was going to replace the PC .

The base model MacBook with a 1.1GHz Core M CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB flash storage will be available for Rs 1,06,900 starting tomorrow. Upgraded models are available from Rs 1,29,900 onwards, depending on the configuration.
