The anniversary edition of the Apple’s iPhone, the iPhone 8 has currently been spotted in two leaked renders. The two different renders show off the alleged iPhone 8 in different colors and with some changes in design as compared to the previous leaks. The iPhone 8 has so far been rumored to feature a radically different design with a bezel-less OLED display, with the Touch ID sensor embedded underneath it.
iPhone 8 fingerprint sensor's location not decided yet, new rumor claims
A new report from Cowen and Company's Timothy Arcuri says Apple is yet to decide on which solution to use for the device's biometric authentication.
The company is reportedly facing three options: thinning the cover glass of the display over a sensor area, creating a pinhole through the glass for an optical or ultrasonic sensor, or going with a "film" sensor which is integrated into the panel using capacitive or infrared technology.
The fact that Apple hasn't decided on a final solution yet means that the iPhone 8 is likely to see a one- to two-month delay in shipping. So instead of launching in September alongside the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, it might only arrive in stores in October or November. The iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, by the way, have been said to keep the screens and Touch ID sensors of their predecessors, but adopt wireless charging and thus glass backs.
iPhone 8 Leak Reveals Massive New Secret
New data from MacRumors (verified by BGR) has revealed Apple is set to also give the iPhone 8 a larger screen resolution than any previous iPhone. In fact extrapolating the data both sites have collected suggests the iPhone 8 will have a native resolution of 2800 x 1342 pixels. This is dramatically up from the iPhone 7 Plus native resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
The iPhone 8 leaks continue this weekend with images emerging of yet another dummy unit. Shared on Twitter by leaker Onleaks, the dummy model corroborates much of what we’ve seen many times in the past related to the iPhone 8’s design, including a glass back, vertical dual-camera design, and more…
In terms of overall size, this dummy unit seems to depict that the iPhone 8 will be slightly thicker than the current generation models, something that has been reported in the past. The iPhone 8 will reportedly measure in at 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57 mm, versus the iPhone 7 at 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm and the iPhone 7 Plus, which measures 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm. The flagship iPhone this year is expected to shift to a 5.8-inch display with a new aspect ratio that makes it taller than the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 but not as hefty as the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus.
