Cook's visit to India is a first for an Apple CEO. None of the California-based technology giant's seven CEOs ever visited India while in office.

The Apple CEO shared the tech giant's future plans in India with the PM. He spoke of the possibilities of manufacturing and retailing in India, and appreciated the breadth of young talent in India.

Tim Cook said the Indian youth have significant skills which Apple would like to tap and mentioned the immense potential for ‘app-development’ that exists in the country.
During his meeting with PM Modi, the Apple CEO also elaborated on the Map Development Centre that Apple Inc. is setting up in Hyderabad and appreciated the Prime Minister’s initiatives in ‘ease of doing business.’

Earlier this week, Tim Cook announced opening of a new office in Hyderabad that will focus on development of Maps for Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. This investment will accelerate Maps development and create up to 4,000 jobs, Apple said in a press release.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained his Digital India initiative, and identified three key objectives of Digital India as e-education, health and increasing farmers’ incomes. He sought support from Apple in furthering these objectives.

Apple CEO thanked PM Modi for the meeting and tweeted:
Thanks PM @narendramodi for a great meeting. Already looking forward to next visit to India. Best wishes on the app!
