Itanagar, May 5: After a thorough search amid bad weather, the joint search operation team on Wednesday, May 5 was successful to locate Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister. The CM - Dorjee Khandu and four other members in the chopper were declared dead, though rescue operation was hampered due to the bad weather in the region.


The Indian army once again on Thursday, May 5 started the search work and finally succeeded to recover the dead bodies. Sources informed that the bodies are taking back to Itanagar.

On Wednesday the dead bodies were identified by the villagers at the region where Khandu's chopper was crashed on Saturday, Apr 30.

The helicopter's wreckage was found at Lobotang which is situated near Jang water falls in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

The Pawan Hans helicopter AS350 B-3 carrying the Chief Minister along with four others went missing since Saturday, Apr 30 and no communication was established since then. It was earlier reported that the chopper landed in Bhutan, though the government of Bhutan dismissed the news.

The other four members, who accompanied Khandu in the chopper, were - crew members Captain JS Babbar and Captain KS Malick, Khandu's security officer Yeshi Choddak and Yeshi Lamu, sister of Tawang legislator Tsewang Dhondup.
