Several references in the Android source code give a strong indication that Android 8.0 will be very likely codenamed ‘oatmeal cookie’. In the source code we found references to ‘oc-dev’ which is in line with former branch names used by Google. Earlier it was revealed that Android O 8.0 may be called as Oreo

Oatmeal cookie used on one of the slides in Google I/O. Might be the name of the next Android

Google could be currently trying to get permission to use the “Oreo” name and is using “oc” as a fallback/placeholder in case Google doesn’t get the green light to use it. The presentation slide could just be Google trolling us big time and “oc” is probably “Oreo cookie”, after all.

Android O internally referenced as Oatmeal Cookie, but most likely won't be its final name
It appears that some eagle-eyed folks might have stumbled upon its internal name where it goes by 'Oatmeal Cookie'.
The moniker was discovered when folks were looking through the code of the OS and discovered many references to 'oc'. Although examples like ‘oc-dev’ and ‘OC-MR1’ mean nothing on their own, slides with code shown during Google I/O 2017 included references to 'oatmeal_cookie' which could be what the abbreviation stands for.

Internal designations for Android have been used in reference to past versions of the mobile operating systems, with the more recent ones being Android K as 'Key Lime Pie' and Android L as 'Lemon Meringue Pie'. While Oatmeal Cookie might be its internal name, this will most likely not be the final name that will be presented to consumers.
