Since its launch in March last year, Moto Turbo (XT1225) owners in India have been waiting patiently for Motorola to update their phones to the latest version of Google’s Android OS. Their wait seems to be finally over as Moto Turbo owners can now update their handsets to Android Marshmallow.

You may recall that the high-end Motorola Droid Turbo was launched in India as the Moto Turbo with the same specifications, including a 5.2-inch QHD (2560×1440) AMOLED display, 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM, a 21MP rear facing camera and 64GB of internal memory. Powered by a monstrous 3,900mAh battery, the handset had arrived with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out of the box back then. US owners of the Motorola Droid Turbo, available exclusively from Verizon, had reported experiencing somecommon problems, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with some easy solutions.

Even as Motorola’s other models such as theMoto G (3rd Gen) was updated to Android 6.0.1 in India months ago, the Moto Turbo was pretty much ignored until now. With the rollout of the Android 6.0.1 update, Moto Turbo users can now enjoy features exclusive to Marshmallow, including granular permissions and Google Now on Tap. The Android 6.0.1 update also brings new security updates and the Doze mode feature to the Moto Turbo, which is likely to further enhance its already excellent battery life.

Meanwhile, many Android fans are still waiting for their devices to receive the Marshmallow update and while phone makers have now become more serious about updating their devices, a number of models are likely to be left behind.
