Starting June 17th, 2025, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than TV channels and other streaming services. No action is required from you.

We will also offer a new ad free add-on option for an additional ₹999 699 per year/ ₹129 per month* that you can sign up for starting on June 17th 2025.

An email was received stating the above.

Is this applicable to 1499 plans and pay more 699 to have no ads, is this what it is?

Hope it is only at the beginning and at the end. I seriously hate ads between videos.
I doubt, all ad supported video streaming platforms have 3 to 5 ads in a 40 min show. You can get an idea from the way Amazon shows ads in the MX player free content on prime video. This will have fewer ads since it's a paid subscription but there will most probably be ads during the video.

That's sad.

I tried asking Amazon CC, but looking at the way he was typing, I doubt his words are trustworthy. 😂 Seems like he was in a hurry.

I have Prime lite through Tata play Binge bundle and there are no ads in the prime video content as of now. I'll check what happens after 17th May.

Not for Prime. But if Hotstar offers us 999 extra for ad-free experience during live sports. I will pay. So will others. There is a market for premium sports viewers. Someone needs to capitalise it. One Swiggy order on average cost around Rs. 299. So if we pay ten times that to avoid a Swiggy ad or an ad in general. I will happily pay for it.

I am on 1499 premium plan so lets if ad comes while streaming post June 17.
and @iDJ I never saw 999 additional for ad-free during live matches, I am on 1499 plan.
