The legal teams are finalising the correct structure so that the Indian operation is fully compliant as per the new policy,” he said. “But the stake sale idea has taken a backseat since the wholesale trading route will be a faster process, compliant with the FDI norms and Amazon will continue to enjoy the value in these two entities which are critical for growth.

Amazon plans wholesale makeover to become ecommerce FDI compliant

Cloudtail hasn’t cancelled any orders, said Manmohan Ganesh, COO of BPL, which is available exclusively on Amazon. “We are hopeful to continue selling through Amazon complying with the terms of the new policy,” he said. TV makers TCL and Kodak said they have been assured their products will be live on Amazon soon.

Whatever route they take or mathematics r applied, if things continue as earlier then protesting shopkeepers will again pressurise government to take care of their interests and as elections r approaching some major policy change will again be brought.

Best thing would be to make all stakeholders sit , discuss and work out a solution. No point in having confrontaltion time and again which results in zero advantage

Trust me its all done to make way for Reliance mega retail plan entry. Nothing is done for shopkeepers.
Same way this Current TRAI regulation is for JIO ftth tv service.
Like it was done in past with regulation for incoming termination reduced from 14p to 6p now to zero in 2020.

Are you suggesting termination charge should be hiked instead of reducing ? Bear in mind that if you do this then there is no incentive for operators to roll out next generation Mobile network so 2G will remain perpetually

Secondly why only reliance retail ? There are many other desi retail giants present like big bazar , v mart etc so no need to drag reliance only . This law will be helpful for other desi retail business also.

Thirdly do you think with only 2 lakh km optical fibre reliance will capture all India TV business ? Vodafone idea has more fiber and spectrum now than jio and even BSNL has 3 time more fiber than Jio .

Can you explain how trai rule helps Jio IP TV service? Last mile connectivity with ftth is impossible to achieve.
Reducing call terminating charges forced incumbents to move from 2G/3G to 4G.

Dis Is Just Political Move..To gain Votes banks of Small traders n shopkeepers ...Once election gets over.. everything wil be normal.. . ..No Shopkeeper will be able to pressurise GOV as de are doing Right now ..Jus Let Election gets over ..Its jus political stunt to Attracts Traders votes.. Now Gov Wont Change any more in New policy ..de have already done so much damage To e-commerce market wid der latest Policy...Now India cant afford more damage to E commerce .. Otherwise current E commerce market will be vanished frm india.. Which government will never ever want jus to satisfy Shopkeepers egos n stupid demands..

Like Amazon who exited China it is cautioned that Walmart my exit Flipkart if things remain unfavorable like they are today.
A big perception (some reality too) has been created that the small business is suffering most.
From consumer point of view It is good if he gets something at discounted price
From business point of view they need at least 20% to stay and grow business
But in this some points overlooked
Cost of running small/medium business has increased a lot mainly due to High Rent, Other establishment costs like electricity, Staff salary and stiff competition.
Then there are D Mart, Big Bazaar, Star Bazaar and many others who manipulate market and offer big discount effecting nearby small business.
There can not be any simple solution of this situation except Only Fittest survives.
Many business have undergone huge changes like Barber shops, Tailor Shop, Electronic Service center, Cloth store, Garment Business.
Due to Amazon consumers buy expansive items at affordable rates too.
So sooner or latter thing will change.
