Airtel rolls out 'alternate digital KYC' in select circles for new connections - ET Telecom

The alternate digital process for KYC entails scanning of the proof of address and identity, embedding live customer photo and online customer acquisition form, the source said adding that the entire process will be digital.

The official further pointed out that the company will be phasing out the eKYC process, as the digital KYC system is rolled out to new locations, and stablises.

Digital payments and lending firms, which had built their on-boarding system on back of Aadhaar, are hoping to get back access.

"The industry bodies will be supporting the process (for access to Aadhaar), but at the same time, the paperless digital KYC process, with or without Aadhaar, is still a work in progress and needs the support of the regulators and the finance ministry," said Naveen Surya, chairman, Fintech Convergence Council, an industry body for fintech startups.
