Not the truth. Airtel is having cordial relation with almost all broadcasters or content providers at this moment.
Hotstar content being taken off r for 2 basic reasons -
Star India wants its OTT content to not be placed under a common umbrella. As u can see they r leaders alongside Amazon Prime and Netflix hence they ought to prefer going alone and building a separate niche for itself. In earlier days they tied up with airtel to gain momentum but there too one was redirected to their app for watching live tv channels.
Second and most important reason is Jio being partner with Star India, these 2 have a very close bond and this can be seen across different spectrums. It is quite possible that Jio striked an exclusive deal with Hotstar thus leaving out others, this is allowed in OTT unlike linear mediums where content providers cannot deny feed to operators.
