Airtel Xstream Broadband has now hard-capped its plan speeds. For the 200 Mbps plan, getting only 200 Mbps or slightly above, with no extra 20% speed now.

yes noticed that since 2 days was getting 220- 240 for 100 Mbps now not crossing 120 mbps

do a combined test

superb tool to tests latency better than speed test this gives the real speed of the line we getting 11 Mbps/25Mbps but speedtest was normal called airtel they fixed something now 121 Mbps/94 Mbps showed this to airtel engineer.

Whatever Jio is doing, Airtel is copying. Airtel has kept plans a lot higher in FTTH, otherwise Airtel would have garnered a lot more customers in Airtel FTTH+ Airtel 4G Combo, Airtel black plans.

While that's true, Jio had even worse hardcapping earlier. Last year, JioFiber improved a bit and now we get a bit more speed than we are supposed to.

Not crossing 120 Mbps? I don't think that's the thing OP is talking about. They probably fixed the extra speed Airtel users used to get with IPv4 + IPv6 in some Speed Test servers and Steam for you.

OP is talking about the extra 20% speed, such as getting about 120 Mbps on 100 Mbps plan.

Ever since Airtel did that, my local ISP also hardcapped the speed at plan speed. Idk if that is because they use Airtel backend, or because they saw Airtel doing that.

And they really need to understand that copying won't help them, Airtel customers expect much more than Jio and rightfully so for the price they pay. If service is not different than others then what's the point

Copying is helping them. Almost all plans they have copied from Jio and they haven't invested anything, like double data offers in Vi prepaid in 2021, night unlimited. Later Vi brought same thing to postpaid as well. Vi brought unlimited 4G data plan in postpaid and Jio copied it. Now before 5G, it was selling well and later with unlimited 5G, people downgraded their plans to 199 plan. Airtel haven't done anything copy in postpaid segment. But they have literally copied since last three four years in prepaid segment and keeping 50-100 rupees higher plans, because their 4G was best in 2019-2022 era. Now, they have not copied unlimited plan in postpaid because Airtel doesn't have capacity to serve customers. Airtel gained, not because Vi was bad, Airtel gained because Airtel focussed on network from 2017-2019 and after 2019, their customers just shoot up like nobody else. Airtel already had band 3 spectrum more than Jio and has leverage of using band 1 to their full potential. Today Airtel is lacking four things. First of innovation, if they could slash fiber prices to 30%, then their FTTH customers will double. But simply they are not doing it. Airtel customer service is worse for single postpaid user(It's still better than Jio postpaid/Jio fiber), but it's not good enough. That's where Airtel black remained behind. In my city, Mumbai, People still using Vi Postpaid and Tata Fiber in South Bombay, when Airtel fiber is actually lot better. Jio ecosystem is good, but once fiber cuts happen, Jio isn't quick to fix things up. Airtel quickly resolve things if you are on 200-300Mbps plan(atleast my personal experience in Mumbai). Airtel just messed up everything since two years since 5G launch. Now they are focussing on 4G expansion(actually that's the thing they should have done two years back when 5G was not necessary). Now 4G would have been perfect by Airtel with more 4G coverage and would have ended Vi completely. There was spectrum cap on N78. Jio would have taken maximum of 150Mhz only. There was simply no need to rush. I hope Airtel fixes everything in next three years along with slashing FTTH prices and fiber backhaul to their 4G/5G towers. But I feel it's too late now.

act and others are offering a wide spectrum of plans airtel is still stuck with the same plans rigid structure i feel they need to give more options and make ftth cheaper and gain more market share.

@TheAndroidFreak Vi is doing all that because people are leaving them. Airtel don't care much. I know how you feel, but they are all about money right now. They know that in many places, especially small cities, Vi has started falling. Small cities were once their biggest strongholds, since they used to offer the best signal reception. Now, Jio is here. You will be travelling to small cities or villages and will be having great 5G signal in Jio, meanwhile Vi will show 2G. At least, that's how it is here.

People don't trust BSNL either. So, only Jio and Airtel is there to choose from. That's why you don't see anything innovative, because they don't think they need to. All they need to do is catch with Jio about anything they offer.

And about FTTH, if there is Airtel and Jio option anywhere, many people will prefer Airtel over Jio because people believe Airtel is more trustworthy. You are talking about Mumbai and similar metro/tier 1 cities, but there are more people living in tier 2 and tier 3 cities who mostly just have to choose between these two or some local ISP. Airtel cannot compete with local ISPs, so they don't care about them and just focussing on Jio's pricing model.
