Can't speak for other places, but here people used Idea mainly because they had great coverage even in villages. Now, Jio and Airtel are also having great coverage in villages, Jio is even having coverage in remote areas and call quality in Airtel and Jio is also way better. It is seriously annoying to talk with anyone having Vi SIM, due to how horrible they sound. It is not great even Vi to Vi here, so people tend to not like them. And another major reason is people are afraid that Vi will shut down and then they will need to shift to a different operator again.

Exactly, VI is really bad in Hyderabad, dont get VOLTE or Vowifi and ofcourse still no 5G.

This is one of the reasons why I'm leaving Vi and about to try Airtel 5G for the first time since 2022 5G launch

If your primary number is important to you then it's better to have it on Airtel/Jio. Secondary numbers could be on any network as it is less important even if the network closes down it doesn't matter.

i had Primary as Vi from Jan 2024 to March 16, 2025 (Sim getting deactivated tonight, porting to Airtel)
and whenever i was in a different city then Mumbai, such as

Bangalore
Pune
Kolkata

Vi was unreliable and spotty ,where it would get network there it would perform really well and suddenly in the middle of the city they dont have 4G

I don't know about rest of the malls, but Phoenix has perfect Vi coverage. 900+1800Mhz works flawlessly inside the mall.

vi Don't have spectrum in ap also I am facing issue indoor coverage from 2018 on wards last week network engineer came and informed we will install new site or change the existing site in my nearest location
