Having recently launched 4G services for the sea, Airtel is now planning to expand its 4G presence in AP from the existing 8 cities to 15 to 20 in the coming months.

At the same time, the telecom service provider is planning to capitalise on 3G in both urban and rural areas in the coming days.

Speaking to TOI, following the launch of Platinum 3G network for customers in Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam on Friday, Bharti Airtel CEO (AP and Telangana) Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, said, "We are rolling out 4G services town by town in AP.

Our belief is that rollout of 4G will help in digital agenda and we want to continue to expand in 15 to 20 towns." He pointed out that consumption of data in 3G has already overtaken 2G data services even though the latter has higher number of customers. tnn
