Taiwanese PC Maker Acer has launched its tablet computer running Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, the touchscreen 10.1-inch device has been named Iconia Tab A500.

In addition, the tablet is designed for use with rich multimedia entertainment, including console-like gaming, and has wide viewing angles and high colour accuracy.

According to the firm, the device is sleek and smart and will make the most of the Honeycomb OS, as well as multimedia and user friendly features.

Along with the Tegra 2 CPU, the A500 has an Nvidia GeForce GPU with support for Flash 10.1. The 13.3mm thick tablet has aluminum casing with a high gloss finish and laser engraved textures. The unit also boasts a 5MP rear-facing camera and a front-facing HD lens, as well as WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.

The Honeycomb based tablet is likely to be released in April. Pricing, however, remains hard to pin down.
