now all pvt organisations will start using aadhar for proofs n force public to use Aadhar!! and make the public bear that rs20 which shd ideally be their expense!!
I am sure we will find enough people to argue that Rs 20 is a small amount for any individual to pay, after all it goes to the government etc, but why did the government want to monitize their social ID scheme? Is Govt a money making machine? Think of 20 lakh verifications happening in a day, govt is getting 4 crores out of this initiative. Think of how much money rolls in for one year.
Amazing govt n its policies!!! First, they made Aadhar compulsory for everything and forced public to apply for it. They made this number seeding for everything. Then court rules its not compulsory. And now, govt is trying to make it "compulsory" for everything with this fee route.
Do you think a pvt provider will opt for an alternate verification now? NO! E.g. If you want a mobile SIM, Jio/AVOID etc will say, give your aadhar number if you want a SIM, I wont accept any other proof as Aadhar is universal (97% of India has it?).
What next?
- poor need not pay this Rs 20, others have to pay Rs 40 to compensate for the poor?
- you can buy verified & authentic customer data for a certain amount?
More practical approach without burdening the public (i.e., instead of asking Rs 20 for each transaction) would be to
+ setup a mandatory registration & annual fee to pvt organisations to use aadhar verification
+ revise the annual charges to the organization based on the utilization if needed
+ whatever necessary funding is needed for the aadhar infrastructure will be recovered from these fees from organizations
WISH THIS GOVT TAKES FEEDBACK FROM PUBLIC ON THEIR INITIATIVES & IDEAS BEFORE ROLLING THEM OUT
