A month after the G4 Plus launch, Motorola has finally introduced the base variant of the fourth-generation Moto G4 in India. Unlike the G4 Plus which comes in two variants - 16 GB and 32 GB, the G4 is available in one storage variant - 16 GB.
The Moto G4 is priced at Rs 12,499 - Rs 1,000 less than the G4 Plus (16 GB), and will be available online starting June 23. The company, however, has plans to enter the offline space as well.
The Moto G4 Plus, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 13,499 for 16 GB, and Rs 14,999 for 32 GB.
It was last month when the company had announced the new Moto G in two variants - the G4 and the G4 Plus. While the G4 Plus has been available to buy in India since its launch, the G4 goes on sale starting June 22.
The Moto G4 and the G4 Plus look almost the same and have similar features, but what makes the two phones different is the fingerprint sensor, rear camera and the variants that they come in.
The Moto G4 Plus features a fingerprint sensor at the front, which makes it the first Moto G phone to come with a fingerprint scanner. The G4, on the other hand, lacks it.
The second distinguishing factor between the two phones is the camera. The Moto G4 has a 13 megapixel rear camera, while the G4 Plus comes with a 16 megapixel rear camera.
The third thing that makes the G4 and the G4 Plus different are the variants that the two phones come in. The G4 comes in only one variant (2 GB RAM + 16 GB ROM), while the G4 Plus has been announced in two variants - (2 GB RAM + 16 GB ROM) and (3 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM). Both the Moto G4 and the G4 Plus support a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
Other key specs of the Moto G4 include a 5.5-inch full HD display, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core CPU, 3000 mAh battery, 5 MP front camera, and dual-SIM support.
The Moto G4 will also be available in black and white colours. It competes with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, ZUK Z1, and the LeEco Le 2.
