700CC DUAL CLUTCH HONDA CBF IMAGE SURFACES: IS SOMETHING LIKE THIS THE PERFECT HONDA 600 FOR INDIA?
A 700cc dual clutch equipped Honda CBF has been spied testing by spy photographers Brenda Priddy and Co. The entry level CBF which has been caught testing seems like an automatic version as it did not have a clutch lever on it’s handlebar, indicating that Honda may have used it’s latest dual clutch automatic gearbox, which it first developed for the Honda VFR1200F, on the CBF700. The motorcycle also seems to have a smaller displacement engine of the super smooth V4 engine of the VFR1200F.
From the looks of it, the motorcycle could be aimed at beginners and tourers looking for a cheaper alternative to the VFR1200F. While the folks at Motorcycle USA say that this motorcycle is a Euro Spec model, we would love to see Honda bring this model or at least a manual geared version of this motorcycle to India. This, as the 600cc sports motorcycle segment in India shows some real signs of hotting up with the launch of the Kawasaki Ninja 650R on the 8th of June.
With the Hyosung GT650R already launched and the Ninja 650R to be launched very soon, Honda might want to bring in it’s own offering to tap in what promises to be one of the most lucrative segment in the sports motorcycle segment with Garware-Hyosung even targeting a not-so-inconsiderable 2000 units of it’s GT650R Sportsbike and ST7 Cruiser sales by the end of this year. So, Honda entering this segment through the CKD route could just be that the doctor ordered for the rapid evolution of the Indian motorcycle market.
