I had got a query and curious to know and may sound stupid. Why Swimming has many categories and total number of medals are so huge in Asian games or Olympics which gives certain countries an advantage like china etc. While on the other hand games like football ,cricket , hockey had to play a number of matches and gold medal awarded for it is only 1 for that. How it is decided the medals for each sport in asian games olympics etc. Also like weightlifting too for each categories used to be provided a separate medal like clean and jerk, etc now they have removed.
