Earlier today, Lenovo-backed ZUK launched its
ZUK Z2 Pro smartphone in China. The successor to ZUK Z1 , the new smartphone packs the latest hardware onboard and comes with a slightly refined design. While the Z1 was offered in two variants – one running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with ZUI running atop and the international variant running on Cyanogen OS, the Z2 Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. We compared both devices based on their specifications and features, and here’s what’s new in the Z2 Pro.

The ZUK Z2 features an all-metal unibody design and the bezels are pretty thin — only 0.5mm between the display and the edge, the company says. The physical home button is also present and it comes integrated with a fingerprint scanner too. Additionally, the Z2 Pro is equipped with 10 sensors, including a UV sensor, altimeter and a heart rate monitor, which is placed at the back, just below the camera module.

Specifications and features:

While the ZUK Z1 was equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) IPS LCD display, the Z2 Pro now comes with a slightly smaller 5.2-inch AMOLED display running at full HD (1080p) resolution. On the hardware side, the Z1 was powered by Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB on non-expandable storage, whereas the Z2 Pro is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. The Z2 Pro will be offered in ‘Standard Variant’ with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and an ‘Exclusive Edition’ with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage configuration.

In the photography department, both the Z2 Pro and Z1 are equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS and a front-facing 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the battery front, the Z1 is armed with a 4,100mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0, whereas the Z2 Pro comes with slightly smaller 3,100mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.

With 4G LTE, dual-SIM card slots, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac, both smartphones feature USB Type-C port. The exclusive edition of Z2 Pro costs 2,699 Yuan in China, which roughly translates to Rs 27,000. And while the Z1 hasn’t made it to the Indian shores yet, it is set to launch later this month or early next month. The company has already sent out media invites for the same, but hasn’t revealed any launch date. It costs 1,799 Yuan in China, which roughly translates to Rs 18,300 in India.
