ZTE has announced the Star 1, its LTE enabled Android KitKat phone in China. This single SIM phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC having a quad-core 1.6GHz processor.
The ZTE Star 1 is priced at Chinese Yuan 1399 which works out to approximately Rs 13,545. ZTE hasn’t announced any India launch plans at the moment. The Star 1 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box and has 1GB of RAM. It has a 5-inch full HD IPS display. On the imaging front, the Star 1 features an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash unit, along with a 5MP front-facing camera. It comes in two storage variants – 16GB and 32GB – with no expandable memory.
Running the whole show is a 2300mAh battery, which sounds rather measly to us given the other specs. On the whole it’s a mix of mid-range specs and a top-end display. The Star 1 will be sold in black, pink and white colours. Even though it’s a KitKat phone, the press images show a custom UI, more on the lines of the Amigo OS from Gionee.
Of course at the moment, the company has not announced any India plans, but we know that ZTE is working with telcos in India to launch new 4G phones. Recently, we had heard that Reliance Jio was testing devices for their schedule 4G services launch in September. The report mentioned Reliance was testing phones from brands such as Samsung, Huawei as well as ZTE.
