In September, BGR India had exclusively revealed YU’s plans of launching a flagship smartphone called Yutopia. Since then, the company has been teasing the smartphone in bits and pieces. Now, YU has sent out media invites for the launch event, which is set to take place on December 7.
The invite has a caption, “The Real Beast is coming to town on 07.12.2015.” Besides teasing some of the specifications, YU has also taken a dig at popular flagship smartphones such as iPhone 6s base model for its 16GB non-expandable storage and OnePlus 2 for not having Quick Charge feature among others.
Today itself, YU teased yet another photo on Twitter, mocking Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge, a flagship smartphone that comes with 3GB of RAM. The caption reads “3GB RAM for a flagship phone? #NextIsNoTNow. #Yutopia will change everything around!” This could be a hint that the Yutopia would come with 4GB of RAM.
YU has already started taking pre-bookings for the Yutopia on its website. It has also mentioned that unlike the company’s other smartphones the Yutopia won’t be sold in flash sales. Another important thing to note is that, all of YU’s current smartphones are priced below Rs 10,000, and the Yutopia will be the first YU smartphone to break the barrier.
YU Yutopia specifications and features: From the previous leaks, the Yutopia could sport a 5.2-inch QHD display. Under the hood, it could be powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The handset could come with 32GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot for further expansion.
For the shutterbugs, the Yutopia could sport a 21-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS are also expected. The smartphone could run on CyanogenMod 12 OS based Android 5.1 Lollipop.
There is no word on the pricing and availability yet, but with just six days to go for the launch event, we will learn more about what YU has to offer with its latest flagship smartphone. We will also be on ground to cover the event. Till then, stay tuned.
