Facebook has announced a new feature that will let users remain active on the social networking website even after they pass away.
The world's biggest social media site on Thursday announced that users can nominate a 'legacy contact' who will manage the account after their death.
However, the legacy contact won't have access to all the features of the Facebook account, and will only be able to accept or reject friend requests, update cover photo and profile information, and archive posts. The legacy contact will also be allowed to write just one more post after the death of the account owner.
The legacy contact will not be able to read the deceased account owner's private messages.
This feature is available only in the US at present.
Till now, Facebook only showed the account of deceased users to others, but did not let anyone manage the account or edit information.
