Indian smartphone vendor XOLO has announced the launch of a new Android tablet in the country today. Dubbed as XOLO Play Tab 7.0, it is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The tablet has been priced at INR 12,999 and will be available in stores countrywide.
XOLO Play Tab 7.0 runs on Android 4.1 and features a 7-inch 1280x800p display. It also comes with 2MP front camera, 4000 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. There is no 3G or voice-calling support.
“As XOLO continues to deliver on its promise to bring differentiated technology to discerning consumers, we’re replicating the success we’ve achieved in the smartphone category now in tablets. XOLO Play Tab 7.0 marks the first tablet in the XOLO Play category of products, powered by NVIDIA Tegra. Similar to XOLO Play T1000 smartphone launched in July, the Tab delivers similar entertainment now on a bigger 7-inch screen,” said Sunil Raina, Business Head at XOLO.
The tablet will be competing with Google’s Nexus 7 (2012) tablet in the country, which is actually a better tablet and has been tried and tested. Nexus 7 is currently on sale at Flipkart for a much-lower price-tag of INR 9,999 (16GB version).
