Xiaomi could be prepping a software update on one of its prized smartphones, the Redmi Note 3. The smartphone running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has been spotted on the benchmarking website GFXBench. Towards the end of last year, Xiaomi had rolled out the Android Marshmallow update for the Redmi Note 3, and now it seems we won’t have to wait long for the Nougat update to roll out.

The GFXBench listing, spotted by GSMArena , however shows specifications that are different from what is available on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. For example, the display size is given as 5.7-inch, when the Redmi Note 3 actually comes with a display size of 5.5-inch. The hexa core processor’s clock speed is seen as 2GHz, while the Redmi Note 3’s processor has a clock speed of 1.8GHz. Seeing how there is a confusion with the GFXBench listing, we suggest that this information be taken with a grain of salt.

Speaking about the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi had launched the smartphone back in February last year, and it hit the Indian market in March. The Redmi Note 3 turned out to be a game changer for Xiaomi in India as it reported in September of having sold 2 million units of the smartphone in India. It also became the smartphone with the highest number of units sold online in any given quarter.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 specifications, features

Recalling its specifications, the Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch 1080p display with dedicated Sunlight display and Reading modes. Under the hood of the smartphone, it runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 processor. The smartphone comes in two variants of RAM and storage, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage and the higher variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage.

In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and PDAF. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. For power, the smartphone uses a 4,000mAh battery in the 16GB variant, and a 4,050mAh battery in the 32GB variant, and both come with Quick Charge support. The connectivity options offered by the smartphone include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS.

Xiaomi had upped its game in the Redmi series by launching the successor to the Redmi Note 3 in India. The Redmi Note 4 smartphone was launched in India earlier this month, which comes with a few improvements promised to give better performance than its successor.

Great news for RMN 3 users. But they are actually getting some features of nougat from recent update. Hopefully after this, they will get all the features.

Xiaomi disable many default features and add their own which they think is useful. So it cannot be said that all google nougat features will be available
