Back in December, Xiaomi had confirmed the Mi 4 and Mi Note will be among the first smartphones to get the MIUI 7 update based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Weeks after the official announcement, Xiaomi has reportedly started rolling out the update for the Mi 4.
Xiaomi is rolling out the Android v6.0.1 update via OTA, reports GSMArena. The update is about 100MB in size. The latest update brings a slew of new features as well as tweaks in the UI to make it much more fluid.
Talking about the new features, Xiaomi has already listed a few features that will come packed into the Marshmallow update. The status bar will now have global support for all apps, and the file management UI will be made more user-friendly. The new update also brings customized menu with more features. There are some tweaks made to the color reproduction and minor changes in the camera app as well.
The update will have no effect on the Quick charging feature. There have been some upgrades in the battery life too. The main software features remain the same as those mentioned at the launch of MIUI 7 and MIUI 7.1.
To recap, the Mi 4 was launched in India last year. The smartphone came with Android 4.4.3 KitKat out of the box. In October, the company rolled out Android 5.1.1-based MIUI 7 update for the Mi 4. Another MIUI 7.1 update was rolled out this month. Other Xiaomi smartphones that are expected to get the Marshmallow update are the Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note.
