Windows Phone 8.1 to have browser sync features
Here are two upcoming reasons for users to give smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 a second look: Start screen backgrounds and browser syncing.
Microsoft is expected to release Windows Phone 8.1 to developers in early April, the report noted.
Citing details from an article on Chinese-language LiveSino, The Verge said the SDK hinted at an option to "change your phone’s background" behind the Live Tiles on the Start Screen.
On the other hand, it quoted sources familiar with Microsoft’s WP plans indicating Microsoft is experimenting with transparent Live Tiles and options to skin Tiles with images.
Microsoft introduced a three-column Start Screen for devices with large screens, but we understand existing handsets like the Lumia 920 and 1020 will be able to enable the new layout with Windows Phone 8.1," The Verge added.
It said LiveSino discovered this setting under a "show more Tiles" option.
Browser syncing
Meanwhile, The Verge said Microsoft is adjusting its mobile Internet Explorer browser to sync tabs with Windows 8.1 machines.
The feature is similar to that of Google's Chrome.
