The Indian subsidiary of the Swedish car maker recently published many marketing flyers of the V40 Cross Country and these show some of the features of the car. The V40 Cross Country vehicles have already started reaching dealerships and it is a matter of time before the new Volvo would be seen battling it out against the entry level crossovers from its German rivals.

Several market watchers believe that V40 Cross Country could appeal to young Indian car buyers who wish to have a luxurious car with small dimensions and an eye catchy styling.

The V40 Cross Country rides 40 mm higher than the std. V40. The five-door premium car comes with SUV inspired design details such as anodized, black high-gloss frame around the greenhouse, the black rear-view mirror housings and the sleek rails floating over the roof.
On the inside, the car comes with 40/60 rear seat rear seat and the load compartment can be equipped with a practical hanging load net. The front passenger seat too can be folded forward to create luggage more space. The car also has a storage compartment below the armrest and this compartment comes with a connector for USB/iPod and AUX.

For international markets, the V40 Cross Country gets an All Wheel Drive system for the T5 turbo petrol motor. The five-cylinder 2.5-litre T5 engine has a max power output of 254 hp and peak torque figure of 400 Nm. This variant comes with an automatic transmission and has a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration figure of 6.1 seconds. The T5 variant is also available with a 2.0-litre engine that has a max power-torque figure of 213 hp-300 Nm.There is also the T4, a 1.6-litre GTDi engine with 180 horsepower and maximum torque of 270 Nm, including 30 Nm overboost. All engine variants come with start-stop and braking energy regeneration features. The V40 Cross Country also gets a Hill Descent Control on the T5 version.

Volvo India’s Managing Director Mr. Tomas Ernberg has earlier said that the new car will be launched in India with two engine options – 1.6L petrol and 2.0-liter diesel. Sadly, none of the engine variants of the India spec V40 will offer an AWD system.
