Number two telco Vodafone on Tuesday said that it will offer upto four times more data for its 4G customers under some plans, as it sought to intensify a price war in which incumbent carriers are offering more data for the same price.
A Vodafone customer subscribing to a Rs250 plan will now get 4GB of data compared with 1 GB earlier, the company said in a statement. A subscriber to a Rs 999 plan will now get 22GB of data compared with 10 GB earlier.
“Our customers are consuming more of content and video online. With these packs, our rapidly growing base of 4G customers across 17 circles can enjoy much more of mobile internet," Sandeep Kataria, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India said.
Vodafone in December had offered double data benefits on market packs. These offers come at a time when telcos are operating amidst cut-throat competition, especially post the entry of Reliance Jio , in order to retain their market share with the new entrant offering voice and data for free till end of March.
