Vodafone India on Tuesday rolled out its 4G service in Tripura. The company in a statement said that it will launch its 4G services across major towns and cities of Assam and North East circles by March 2017.
The 4G launch in Agartala follows the launch of 4G services in Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Bongaigaon, Guwahati and Dibrugarh in Assam, Aizawl in Mizoram, Kohima in Nagaland and Shillong in Meghalaya.
In a bid to expand 4G user base, the company is offering free upgrade to 4G for customers along with free 4G SIM. With the launch, the company has introduced a host of offers for its customers where it’s offering host of data packs starting from Rs 8 for 30 MB. Vodafone customers can also opt for 3G/4G mobile internet starting at Rs 16 per hour.
The telco is offering existing customers twice the data on buying greater than 1GB packs. Also, all 4G RED customers will get double data on their purchase of data packs.
“As a steadfast partner to Digital India, we are delighted to launch Vodafone SuperNet 4G in Tripura beginning from the capital city - Agartala. The state is a key market for Vodafone India, and as one of the leading telecom service providers our 5.5 million customers in Assam & North East Circle have a lot to look forward to,” said Alok Verma, Business Head–Assam & North East Circle, Vodafone India.
“We will soon expand our Vodafone SuperNet 4G services across Assam & North East in a phased manner. We invite our data savvy customers in Agartala to make the most of the bonanza of special benefits being offered to enjoy the best mobile internet experience,” he added.
Vodafone will allow 4G international roaming across 12 countries including UK, UAE, New Zealand, Turkey, Ireland, Singapore, Albania, Netherlands, Romania, Germany, Greece and Czech Republic, and will be adding more countries.
The company has invested Rs 150 crore in H1,FY 17 to to upgrade and modernize its network. In the Assam and North East circle, Vodafone has a retail footprint with 290 Vodafone branded stores.
The telco had earlier stated that the nine circles of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Gujarat, UP (E) and West Bengal, contribute to under 70% of its data revenues
