On the day when Reliance Jio announced a new offer which would provide free services to existing customers and new ones till March next year, Vodafone India launched data packs at Rs 24.

Called the ‘Bada Data Chota Price’ –it is a series of low price monthly data packs starting at Rs 24/- for a 30 day validity. “We are democratizing data by making it more affordable and accessible. This is key to driving usage and encouraging first time users to come online,” said Sandeep Kataria, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India. He added that this would will facilitate in faster adoption of data and its better usage.

Telecom majors have faced the jitters since September when Jio rolled out its free offers. They too were forced to slash their rates but firms like Vodafone maintained that competition in telecom industries is a given.

In an earlier interview to ET , Sunil Sood, MD and CEO had spoken about data growth in India. “we expect data growth to boom and increase multi-fold. This is already revealed by the latent demand shown by the free offer (by Jio),” he had mentioned in his November interview.

But these is a difference. Airtel gives 3G/4G speed and 30 days where as Vodafone only gives 2G speed and for 28 days

Considering airtel has more wide coverage than Vodafone. It's best to choose airtel

The same i feel.

On top of that most places I visit I noticed that Airtel gives 2 times better speed than Vodafone. The only place where I see Vodafone excels is Gssran bro's place.
