Vivo, the company known for introducing selfie-centric smartphones, has sent media invites for its next smartphone meant for selfie-lovers. Dubbed, the Vivo V5 Plus, the smartphone is speculated to feature dual-front cameras.

The Vivo V5 Plus is among the very few smartphones that feature dual-selfie cameras. The only other smartphone available in India with this feature is the Lenovo Vibe S1. The setup on the Vibe S1 includes an 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture to capture images, and a 2-megapixel snapper that analyzes the depth-of-field. Together the cameras work to capture photos with DSLR-like bokeh effects, and also let users change the focus of the photo and also swap backgrounds. With the V5 Plus, chances are that the company will opt for a similar setup, though at the moment details are scarce.

Vivo launched the V5 smartphone in India last month, and it boasts a metal body design. As for specifications, there’s a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display, MediaTek 6750 octa-core 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB onboard storage along with microSD card slot.

In the photography department, the smartphone boasts a 20-megapixel selfie camera, which makes it the world’s first smartphone to offer bumper megapixel for selfies. Besides the front camera, the smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,000mAh battery. Other features include a fingerprint scanner and 4G LTE support. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on FunTouch 2.6 OS.

If we were to hazard a guess, we feel the Vivo V5 Plus will come with most of the above specifications, albeit with the dual-selfie camera up front. When launched, the Vivo V5 Plus will be in direct competition with the Lenovo Vibe S1 for its dual selfie camera setup.
In terms of specification, the Lenovo Vibe S1 features a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable via microSD card.

Apart from the dual front-facing selfie cameras, the Vibe S1 also comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with true-tone dual-LED flash. It is equipped with a 2,420mAh battery and includes connectivity options such as dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. In terms of software, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with Lenovo’s Custom UI running atop.
