The BJP on Friday chose its Gujarat
unit chief Vijay Rupani as the State’s
next Chief Minister. Nitin Patel will be
his deputy.

The announcement came as a surprise
as till about 2.30 p.m. Mr. Patel looked
set to take over as the next Chief
Minister.
