Videocon was a late entrant in the already burgeoning Indian smartphone market but has definitely managed to snag a considerable share in a short while. With the launch of Budget A42, a budget Android Jelly Bean phone, Videocon has ramped up their smartphone portfolio.

As mentioned above, and what is indeed the USP of Videocon A42 is that it is a budget phone running Android Jelly Bean version 4.2. While most phone-makers launch devices with Android Jelly Bean 4.1, the next version is still less popular in budget devices.

Videocon A42 comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with a pixel resolution of 480x854 pixels. The phone comes with multi-touch capacitive display. Though not a 5-incher as is the recent trend, 4.5-inch is a decent screen size for a phone in the just above entry-level mark. The pixel resolution is definitely decent for an entry-level phone.

Under the hood of Videocon A42 runs a dual core 1.2 GHz processor. The internal memory is 4 GB which is expandable to an additional 32 GB using MicroSD card slot. The RAM is 512 MB. While Videocon has provided some good hardware when it comes to the processor, the RAM leaves something to be desired.

Videocon A42 comes with a 5MP rear end camera with LED flash. The front camera is a basic 1.3 MP snapper.
