LONDON: Campaigning in Britain's
most unpredictable election in a
generation entered its final day with
the two main parties level in most
polls and neither on track to
command a majority in the
parliament of the world's fifth
largest economy.
Despite five weeks of campaigning,
neither PM David Cameron's
Conservative party nor Ed Miliband's
opposition Labour has a clear lead,
teeing up a potentially messy and
uncertain outcome after Thursday's
vote.

LONDON: British voters get to decide
on Thursday who they want to rule
the world's fifth-largest economy in
a tight election that could yield
weak government, propel the United
Kingdom towards a vote on EU
membership and stoke Scottish
desire for secession.

GLASGOW/ABERDEEN:Scottish
nationalists rampaged to victory
north of the border in Britain's
national election, obliterating their
opponents and setting the stage for
a new battle over independence.
In an epic performance, the Scottish
National Party (SNP) ousted the
leader of the Labour Party in
Scotland and took former Prime
Minister Gordon Brown's onetime
stronghold in Kirkcaldy.
Labour's UK campaign chief Douglas
Alexander lost his Scottish seat to a
20-year-old politics student, the
SNP's Mhairi Black, the youngest
British member of parliament since
the 17th century.

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula
(AQAP) said that its ideologue
Nasser bin Ali al-Ansi was killed with
his eldest son and other fighters in
Yemen in a US air strike, according
to the SITE Intelligence Group,
which cited the online video.
Reuters could not independently

LONDON: Labour's apparent worse-
than-expected defeat in the British
general election is a personal blow
for its leader Ed Miliband and
increased pressure Friday for the 45-year-old to step down. Written off as a political insider lacking charisma just a few months ago, Miliband had won plaudits for his tough campaign style and some observers saw leadership material despite his awkward image.

Centre-left Labour was neck-and-

Conservatives in poll after poll,
helping bolster Miliband against
Prime Minister David Cameron - lon
seen as the slicker operator.
